The name of this Suite is taken from Santa Rosalia, a Sicilian Noblewoman born in 1130 at the Court of King Guglielmo I, also known as ‘The Bad’.
According to tradition she was lady in waiting to Queen Margherita and was promised in marriage at the age of 15 to Count Baldovino. The young Rosalia driven by a profound vocation to prayer and the church refused. A strong and courageous character, she chose to live as a hermit, seeking refuge in a cave, which became a place of pilgrimage. Various miracles were attributed to her and she was proclaimed a Saint in 1624, saving Palermo from the Plague and becoming its Saint.
